This edition of #TheComfyCook is a Memorial Day Weekend classic, hot dogs! Enjoyed year-round but especially at BBQs, parties, and picnics on warm-weather days. Every part of the country has their own unique flavor combinations for the perfect hot dog. Assembly can be as simple as a hotdog with ketchup and mustard, but let's go beyond basic. Just like The Comfy, each hot dog has its own pizazz that makes them unique! So, sit back in The Comfy Dream and enjoy our list of 5 different hot dog styles from across the country:
New York-style:
The hot dog capital of the world! The NY-style hot dog is topped with onion sauce, sauerkraut, brown deli mustard, and served on a traditional hot dog bun. Can’t go wrong with a classic!
Chicago style:
A world-renown classic, some consider the Chicago Dog the best in the business. An all-beef hot dog, topped with mustard, diced onions, relish, sliced tomatoes, a pickle spear, sports peppers, and a pinch of celery salt, all served on a poppy seed bun! “Dragged through the garden", as they say, but a classic nonetheless!
California Street Dog
A hot dog that’s bacon-wrapped? What’s there not to love! Usually served in a street cart outside entertainment venues across California: A grilled, all-beef hot dog wrapped with a strip of bacon, topped with grilled peppers, sauteed onions, and finished off with a drizzle of mayo, mustard, and ketchup. You’ll be tempted to go back for another after your first bite!
Cincinnati Coney:
Cincinnati, Ohio is known for its great chili, usually topped with a mound of delicious shredded cheddar cheese! This hot dog pays homage to that: A steamed bun with a boiled all-beef hot dog, topped with diced onions, a generous amount of Cincinnati chili, and finished with a pile of cheddar cheese. A local might tell you to add a bit of mustard or hot sauce as well!
Seattle Style:
Can’t decide between a hot dog or a bagel? Seattle has you covered: On a lightly toasted bun, spread cream cheese evenly, followed by an all-beef hot dog, topped with grilled onions, and jalapenos. Don’t knock it till you try it!
